Sazmining
Opens Mining Center in Paraguay
The mining farm is being built next to
the Itaipu hydropower plant and will use excess energy. The capacity of the
power plant is designed for 14 GW.
The opening of the enterprise is scheduled for September this year, the farm will contain equipment purchased by customers. The company's business is based on the fact that customers pay for equipment that is managed by Sazmining specialists.
Sazmining positions itself as a mining company using exclusively renewable and surplus energy. The company owns even a hydroelectric power station in Wisconsin generating 1.7 MW.
The cost of energy received from Itaipu is about $0.047 per kWh, while in the US a kilowatt costs Sazmining $0.16.
Itaipu, one of the largest hydropower
plants in the world, is a joint project between Paraguay and Brazil. After the
opening, it turned out that the dam generates excess energy, which Paraguay has
been selling to Brazil to its own detriment. It looks like now there will be
profit instead of damage.
