US SEC got into trouble
The defeat from Ripple was not the only nuisance for the SEC. Congressman Ritchie Torres requested an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the licensing of Prometheum Ember ATS. Torres suspected that Prometheum was a front company established specifically to support the SEC.
Recall that a representative of Prometheum spoke at
the hearings in the US Congress as a representative of the crypto business,
where he fully supported the SEC policy.
The crypto community was outraged, and it turned out
that Prometheum had received a license unexpectedly quickly and easily, with no
significant business activity.
Lado Okhotnikov, CEO Meta Force:
The scandal was certainly loud. Frankly, I am
surprised. If indeed Prometheum was created specifically for the political
backing of the SEC, then this is some kind of clumsy
action. Was it not clear that a scandal was
inevitable and there would be more troubles than bonuses? If this was indeed an
attempt at manipulation, it means the SEC is desperate. Gary
Gensler can
only be sympathized.
