Lockdown Showed That We Can't Live Without Offline

 

In recent days people have started talking about Covid again. Some of its next strains threaten the planet again. And on this wave I remembered the days when the whole world went into lockdown.

 

At that time, I was very interested in the issue of schoolchildren who were switched to online. These were my thoughts when the children had to stay at home and started studying online. I told the children of all my friends and neighbors, “Well, it’s great, what luck for you!” And all the children agreed with me for the first couple of weeks.

 

However, when a month passed, the children became sad. And to my question, if it wasn’t cool to stay at home and not go to school, 99% of them began to answer that it was bad and they wanted to go to school! To my perplexed question why, everyone answered unanimously that they missed their friends and girlfriends.

 

"But you communicate via messengers, don't you?", I asked reasonably and they answered, "Well, we don’t see each other." One boy said that he just wanted to have fun during the school breaks.

 

It seems to me that humanity has carried out a very interesting experiment at the junction of eras! We thought that with the development of online we would gradually forget the joy of meetings and communication with friends. It turns out that we won't! Children who were born with phones in their hands still want live communication.

 

It's in our blood. Try not leaving the house at all for a couple of days, communicating only via the Internet. I assure you that you will quickly get tired of it and you will go to people.

 

So to those who predict “loneliness on the Internet,” I'd like to say that they are mistaken. Of course, maybe in a couple of centuries we will communicate in real life much less often, but at this stage we cannot live without each other. So value live communication, don’t get lost in social networks, because the need for socializing and communication is in our genes.
