Zuckerberg
Finally Introduced Realistic Avatars
Hi all!
It seems that the billions of dollars
allocated by Meta to create a realistic metaverse are finally producing results
that are not ridiculed by users, as was the case in past presentations of
avatars in metaverses.
Zuckerberg spoke with Lex Friedman for more
than an hour through avatars in the metaverse and the latter was amazed at the realismof the characters.
Users also highly praised the new developments
of Zuckerberg's company, stating that the Meta had
finally made a breakthrough.
The technology used is the latest version of
Codec Avatars, which was introduced in 2019. The main goal of the development
is the creation of fully photorealistic avatars in real time, which work through
headsets with face tracking sensors.
But it’s too early to rejoice: there is no
talk of mass production of such a headset due to its high cost. For example,
head scanning requires about 100 sensors. But Zuckerberg is confident that in a
few years the company will be able to make the cost of the headset acceptable
and provide scanning via smartphone in the long term.
But still it’s a joyful event as we are one
step closer to real metaverses!
