The Illusion of Time: What Made Me Doubt Reality

 

In quantum physics there are ideas that time can be nonlinear and even cyclical. Some interpretations of quantum mechanics suggest the existence of many parallel worlds where the past, present and future can exist simultaneously.

 

One day I came home and the thought struck me, what if the Metaverse could make the hours spent in it turn into minutes or seconds of real life. Here beliefs about the nature of time began to come apart at the seams.

 

My experience made me think deeply about what time really is. This allowed me to ask myself the question: maybe all life and experience in reality is also just an illusion?

 

But as I thought about it, I realized that I need to be able to distinguish between the concepts of “real” and “subjective.” Time in virtual reality can be subjective because it exists within that environment. And what we call time can indeed be highly context dependent.

 

All this pushed me to think again because Metaverses can become a powerful tool. We can use them to carry out experiments and research that will allow us to better understand how time works in different conditions and what laws govern it.

 

Who knows, maybe immortality lies precisely in the Metaverse...
