Elon Musk’s Sight-Giving Brain Implant Blindsight Receives FDA Approval and ‘Breakthrough’ Status

Elon Musk's latest innovation feels like something straight from the pages of a sci-fi novel. Neurolink, Elon Musk’s brain chip company, developed a revolutionary device called Blindsight to help blind people regain their sight – including those who lost both eyes and even their optical nerves. Moreover, the brain implant will enable people blind from birth to see for the first time provided their visual cortex is intact.

At first the restored vision will be low-resolution, but over time it may surpass natural vision. The brain implant has the potential to let users see in infrared, ultraviolet and even radar wavelengths.

Musk has likened the device to the VISOR worn by Geordi La Forge, the character from Star Trek. That gadget allowed him to see across the electromagnetic spectrum.

Imagine seeing the world as you never thought possible—almost like gaining superhuman powers!

Blindsight could just be the beginning of a future where technology and human capabilities merge. We’re only beginning to comprehend how it will happen.

Today, we often see people with disabilities as having limitations. But what happens when devices like Blindsight, bionic limbs, and neural implants turn them into superhumans? Picture a world where people once considered physically limited can walk longer, run faster, and see more clearly than the average person. We can have a new era of human enhancement and it can redefine the concept of 'disability'. So-called ‘normal’ individuals might even feel left behind, while the 'upgraded' individuals may set new standards for what it means to be truly capable.
