Sam Bankman-Fried and autism

I have long followed the developments of Sam Bankman-Fried’s (former head of FTX) case. Indeed, his behavior in the company and during the trial may have seemed strange, to say the least.

It seemed to me that he was deliberately annoying the judge. and the jury. He acted as if he wanted to go to jail. There were enough emotional and illogical statements in court, enough strange actions during the trial when he was still at large. Agree, while under police surveillance he contacts the witness and actually threatens him. Such behavior is difficult to call reasonable.

And so, SBF’s lawyers filed an appeal in which they explain the behavior of their client diagnosed with "autism".

Wow!

It is most likely a particular form of autism, in which a person may have increased abilities in one area. But all the others are lagging behind.

If the lawyers are right and SBF has indeed a diagnosis, this explains a lot on the one hand, but it also gives good chances for a reduced sentence.

And that’s good, 25 years in prison is too long even if he’s guilty. His real guilt lies in the mistakes made in managing the company. This should not be worth a quarter of a century.
