Artificial intelligence race

A year ago OpenAI was in fact the only representative of a new kind of "artificial intelligence".

But today OpenAI can meet the New Year in the company of close relatives - AI, offered by many companies. Investors are willing to part with many billions of dollars just to participate in this technology race.

Now I am not even interested in AI itself, although it may become a "millennium technology". It’s really interesting how the approaches to the development of new technologies have changed.

The first investments in OpenAI were objectively risky. There are incredible prospects, but the technology is completely unsolved. However, investors have risked and are now leading the new market and negotiating to raise another $100 billion. If OpenAI actually receives these funds, it will have all the chances to remain the leader and legislator of the world AI.

However, competitors are not going to back down at all. Microsoft, Meta, Elon Musk, Google, a dozen startups are preparing their versions of AI.

The most interesting thing will begin when different AI will engage in intellectual collaborations. What will come out is unpredictable.

Note how quickly decisions are made, both technical and investment. If earlier it was possible to think through business plans during years, calculate financial indicators, make beautiful presentations. Now everything happens instantly according to the standards of any business. Who can say what financial effect will be the development and implementation of AI? Yet intuitive decisions are made to invest billions of dollars.

And that’s a good thing.

In business, there must always be room for risk and intuitive decisions not supported by accurate calculations. Yes, it is possible to lose, but the win can be huge.

And there is another interesting point: Microsoft, Meta, Elon Musk, Google - these are not just brands, but innovation centers that can almost instantly make a decision, mobilize tens of billions of dollars and direct them to a promising project.

This is already a qualitatively new approach in the development of technology. I think we will have some interesting years of technological competition.
